I am at peace my friend and trust me, when it comes to acceptance I am no mere amateur. Take for instance the fact that I have totally accepted the fact that you didn't make it past the first paragraph of my blog before labeling me a dry drunk and preaching about acceptance. I'm glad you found what has worked for you, but it is this single path hubris that turns many away from recovery and experienced support before they have a chance to find their way (and yes, I have also been guilty of this behavior). To suggest my way or your way is the only path to a peaceful, happy, and successful existence is both arrogant and counterproductive.

Well, with 16 years under my belt I can't say I've had perfect adherence to the program. In fact, I've done things as they felt comfortable. For me 'higher power' has many things to me. Sometimes it is God, sometimes it's another entity, a guardian angel, and sometimes it is just the collective group support of meetings. Either way, accepting that drugs or alcohol don't work well for you is oh so important.

With a Simple solution to lifes problem, why complicate it. It is obvious that this same intellect has put the writer into addiction, and also a dry drunk state. In twenty nine years of sobrierty, and meeting many of the same intelectual types, I can state uequivably that they are not liveing but only existing. Acceptance is the answer to all my problems, and this includes the fact that there is a power greater than myself. Forget the TOTEM POLE, and you will hae a good chance to achieve PEACE.
