Social Host Laws

Here’s another news item for the discussion — passing social host laws. Santa Clara County, CA’s Board of Supervisors passed a Social Host Ordinance on September 23. Eight cities in the County already have them, but this ordinance will cover the unincorporated areas and hold adults responsible for underage drinking on private property. This would mean that parents, hosts or party organizers, 21 or older, will receive a warning and then face fines of up to $1,000 for underage drinking in their homes.
